ABOUT LIVING BY LITTLES

Everyday life can be hard.  I want to make it easier for you.

If you want to improve the quality to your life by incorporating little ideas and solutions into your everyday life, you are at the right place.

There are so many little things that we can do to make day-to-day life easier to navigate.  I love finding, trying and sharing those things.

Living by Littles is not about perfection.  It is not about keeping your everyday life under control all the time.  You can’t.  (At least I know I can’t).

Every post is designed to be a quick, easy read and tackle one little idea or solution.

HOW IT STARTED

One husband, four small kids, a kitchen with every single counter covered with dishes.  Every. Single Counter.  COVERED!

A whispered, desperate prayer ” How will I ever clean this mess up?”

A whispered answer, “Start with one counter top.”

That day, after clearing one counter top, I started on the second.  No veering from the counter top on which I was working.  No starting on another room. One counter top at a time until that filthy kitchen was clean.  The beginning of a lifestyle was born that day.  Learning to focus on the little thing that can be accomplished and moving on from there.

ABOUT ME

My name is Micki and I have been married to my wonderful husband for almost three decades.  We have an amazing blended family of four children and five grandchildren.  After thirty years, I am fortunate to be able to safely say we were successful at blending.  I no longer consider us “blended”.  We are simply family.  Family is everything to me.

We live in wild and wonderful West Virginia.  And yes, it is wild and wonderful.  I left for a while and couldn’t wait to come back!

Some fun (and funny) things about me:

My middle name is Kit.  I was named after the famous cowboy, Kit Carson. My parents were expecting a boy.  (You can’t make this stuff up.)   Even though I have given my mom a hard time about it all my life, I secretly love the uniqueness of both the name and the story.

A long time ago, I made and served cornbread to Brian as a meal .  That’s it.  Cornbread.  He thought I was teasing.  I was not.  I have never lived that down.  However, I still think cornbread as a meal is perfectly adequate.  (Popcorn too!)

I love to read.  Reading is like breathing to me.  If I go too long without a good book, I feel like I am suffocating.  Fortunately (or              unfortunately) Kindle feeds my addiction.

Growing up, every summer our family, along with my Aunt’s family, vacationed at a little place in WV called Bemis.  Seven kids, two adults and a St. Bernard.  The camp had two rooms.  One bedroom and one kitchen (no running water). There were four beds in the bedroom.  The bathroom was an outhouse.  The bathtub was a river.  We stayed for ten days.  They are the best memories of my life! (TBH, I never liked the outhouse!)
