The Amazing Power of 15 Minutes

Timer set to 15 minutes

Would you like to accomplish more, with less effort and in less time, than normal?

The amazing power of 15 minutes helps you do just that!

My Story

It started as an idea for a new house cleaning routine.

Invest fifteen minutes a day doing a chore that’s normally reserved for the weekend.

The goal was to get to Saturday with the majority of my weekend cleaning complete.

Often, I share these random ideas with my niece, Cassie, and this one was no exception.

What followed was a barrage of back-and-forth texts sharing fifteen-minute possibilities.

Her final text stated, “I can separate and vacuum seal a flat of chicken breasts in under 15 minutes.  Something else I dread and put off”.

So, what started as a blog post idea for a new house cleaning routine morphed into a blog post idea on the amazing power of fifteen minutes.

Because, as I told Cassie, it really is pretty amazing what you can accomplish in fifteen, intentional, uninterrupted minutes.

Fifteen minutes is enough time to tackle a small task or make consistent progress on a larger project.

Tackle the Small Tasks

Set aside 15 minutes to tackle a task that you’ve been putting off.

It’s a sweet feeling to watch the ever growing to do list start shrinking instead of growing.

Today alone, I spent less than 15 minutes adding items to my grocery store pickup, ordering a new set of sheets, and since I was on a roll, ordering a new pool float that I have wanted for years.

Three tasks, taking up precious mental space, crossed off my never ending to do list all in less than fifteen minutes.

A word of caution.  Seeing how much you can accomplish in 15 minutes is addicting.

Make Progress on Bigger Projects

The power of fifteen minutes is a game changer for tackling bigger projects.

Break big projects, like cleaning your house, into fifteen-minute mini projects.

By focusing on one mini project, the whole thing is less overwhelming and feels much more manageable.

Imagine my surprise when I cleaned the bathroom, emptied the litter box and still had three minutes to spare.

Can you fathom getting to the weekend and not having to spend hours catching up?

Don’t confine your 15 minutes to only tasks and projects.

Imagine the possibilities!

Exercising, reading, and even some self-care are all candidates as 15 minute possibilities.

Just this week my oldest daughter, Mandy, called to tell me that she had read the Bible from start to finish.

There are one thousand one hundred eight nine chapters in the Bible, and it took her years.  One chapter at a time.

Make the amazing power of 15 minutes work for you.

Be intentional about how to use your 15 minutes.

Know exactly what it is you want to accomplish.

Whether that’s stretching for 15 minutes or cleaning the bathroom for 15 minutes, be specific.

Zone in on the project, task, or activity of choice.

For the tiny amount of 15 minutes, put your phone on do not disturb.

Ignore all other tasks, projects, and people vying for your attention.

Unless it’s a crisis situation, almost everything can wait for 15 minutes.

Their turn will come

And finally, get to it!

Don’t complicate the process or wait for the perfect chunk of time.

Carve out 15 minutes, and get to it!

Would you like to accomplish more in less time?

The amazing power of 15 minutes helps you do just that!
