My Story

If you’ve been around a while, you know I have a large family.

Our grandkids are aged five months to seventeen years old, and we love to play games.

However, it’s sometimes difficult to find a game suitable for adults and kids to play together.

Because of that, I am always on the lookout for games that are possibilities.

When my sister brought her version of Magnet Chess to our family Thanksgiving dinner, I knew I had found a winner.

I came home, purchased the game (off Amazon of course), and waited patiently for an opportunity to play it with my two youngest grandsons.

It was a hit.

So much so, that I am planning on leaving it on the table when our family gets together at Christmas.

My gut tells me that not only is Magnet Chess a game suitable for kids and adults to play together, but it’s one that everyone will truly enjoy playing.

After Christmas, I’ll include an update.

What to know

This isn’t a traditional chess game; it’s more like magnetic marbles.

The term magnet chess is generic and applies to many versions of the game.

Some versions make a border of rope, and some versions come with a board.

I chose the board version because I felt like the board would work better for younger kids.

The rules are simple; be the first one to get rid of your marbles.

Take turns laying down your marbles.

If your marble attracts other marbles, you become the sad owner of all the attached marbles.

The game goes fast!  Perfect for a little one that easily gets bored.

Some other things to know

Younger kids will be absolutely fascinated by the strength of the magnets and may choose to make necklaces out of their pieces instead of playing the game.

Or they may use their newly made necklace to steal the pieces from their brother.

Keep in mind, they’re still playing together!

Keep in mind

If a child still puts things in their mouth, this game is not for them!

Choose something different until there’s no chance they will plop one in their mouth.

If you’re looking for a game suitable for kids and adults to play together, I highly suggest you check out Magnet Chess.

It may very well become a new family favorite!
