Brian, my husband, loves milkshakes.
And I love Brian (a little mush there for you 🙂 ). So over the years I have made an effort to buy him a milkshake when I am out and about.
Recently, I decided to start making milkshakes at home. After Googling and checking out Pinterest, I dove in and started making milkshakes.
First I tried a couple of different kinds of tools. A hand mixer and a juicer were two. (I blew up the juicer!) Then I tried adding some ice. Some were too thick. Some were too thin. Brian never complained. It was me. A perfect milkshake was my goal!
And one night, I did! The stars lined up and it was exactly the combination for which I was striving. As I was patting myself on the back, I had one thought.
A milkshake mentality is important in life!
You can Google, you can Pinterest. You can plan and plan and plan. But at some point, you actually have to DO IT!
Once you do it, you have to do it again. And again. And again. At some point, if you really want it, you will not only know how to do it, you will be good at it.
Three years ago was when I actually started blogging. Because I wasn’t good at it and there was a steep learning curve, I quit. But this past fall, it was important enough to me to sit down and START! And practice. And tweak. And come back and do it over and over again. Someday I will get beyond not only knowing how to do it but hopefully be able to do it well.
What is it you want to do? There is a sign hanging in my bathroom. It says, “Don’t give up on your daydreams.” I would add, “apply the milkshake mentality!”
