My Story
I have memories of all day window cleaning extravaganzas from my youth.
Our mom would arm us with buckets of water, rags, and newspaper (to use for drying).
Window washing day started early and didn’t end until every window had been washed, inside and out. It was a much-dreaded, yearly event.
As an adult in my own home, a yearly window washing day is simply out of the question. Time is too precious to give up an entire day to wash windows.
However, I enjoy having clean windows. Over the years I have experimented with various methods, always searching for the easiest way to wash windows.
Two years ago, while browsing in a gift shop, something called an E Cloth Window Cleaning Kit (affiliate link) caught my eye. The kit was affordable, and the box promised amazing results. Intrigued, I bought it and brought it home to try.
Eureka! At long last I finally discovered the absolute easiest way to wash windows!
Two years in, I can honestly say I am still amazed every single time I wash windows.
What’s the magic in the kit?
There are two cloths in the kit. That’s the sum total of the window washing kit. Believe it or not, together, those two cloths, and a small amount of water, deliver on the promise of clean, streak-free windows.
The kit contains one window cleaning cloth and one glass and polishing cloth.
Other than plain water, it is not necessary to use any kind of product to get your windows the cleanest they have ever been.
The instructions with the kit are pretty basic. However, everyone adds their own twist, and I am no exception.
Since my windows get grody, think dog slobber grody, I use my own method to ensure clean windows.
Using the faucet or a bucket of warm water, saturate the window cleaning cloth with water and wring it out, leaving it as wet as possible without making a mess.
Clean the entire surface of the window using the thoroughly wet window cleaning cloth.
Rinse the window cleaning cloth with water, this time wringing out the cloth until it remains just damp.
Wipe the entire surface of the window a second time.
Finish by drying the window with the Glass and Polishing Cloth.
That’s it. There is no way to complicate it.
Washing windows can’t get any easier unless you hire someone to do it for you.
It takes me about ten minutes to clean an average size window.
You will be tempted to add soap or another cleaning product to your water.
Don’t’ do it. It’s not necessary.
Allow the cleaning cloths to work their magic.
The window cleaning cloth is made of tiny, microscopic fibers designed to pick up and hold on to dirt, only releasing it when it’s rinsed.
The weave of the glass polishing kit is a mystery. The E-Cloth web site simply states that the glass polishing cloth is the secret to a streak free shine.
Why and how it works isn’t important.
What’s important is the fact that it delivers on the promise of a super clean, streak-free window.
Why make washing windows any harder than it needs to be?
Do you struggle with washing the windows in your vehicle?
Struggle no more!
Use the same process to wash the windows in your vehicle.
It is amazing how much easier it is to wash the inside of that hard-to-reach windshield.
One thing that does tend to matter is when you choose to wash windows.
Windows should be washed on an overcast day or early morning or evening.
Washing windows when the sun is hottest will cause the water to dry before you have a chance to complete the process.
If, in the past, you have avoided washing windows because it’s such an enormous undertaking, wait no more.
You can join me in saying that you have found the absolute easiest way to wash your windows!
