Your Morning Routine Matters!

Would you like to have a better day, every day?

One of the best things you can do to ensure a good day is to stick with a great morning routine.

My Story

For as long as I can remember, probably when I started high school, my morning routine has remained the same; coffee, shower, hair and makeup (minimal), and getting dressed for the day.

Following the getting ready part, I eat a decent breakfast while reading my daily devotional.

Only after that do I feel completely ready to face the day.

Rarely do I skip any of it.

None of it is about how I look.

All of it is about how my routine makes me feel.

Only when I have completed the routine do I feel a hundred percent ready to tackle the day.

Weekday, or weekend, the routine rarely changes.

At this point, my morning routine is an integral part of who I am.

So, if you find your days aren’t quite what you would like them to be, it may be due to a lack of a good morning routine.

Why is a morning routine important?

All of us give so much.

To our families, our jobs, our homes, and our communities.

The demands on our time are relentless.

Taking just a small slice at the beginning of each day to invest in yourself, physically, mentally, and spiritually, goes a long way to maintaining the ability to give

Think of it like filling a gas tank.

By topping off your tank each morning, you can keep yourself running efficiently.

What does a great morning routine look like?

Here’s the thing about creating a morning routine.

A good morning routine has to work for you.

What makes me feel good, and ready to face the day, won’t be what makes you feel good and ready to face the day.

The key to creating, and sticking to, a good morning routine is figuring out what “fills your tank” and then taking the time to do that each morning.

For everyone that says they don’t have time for any kind of morning routine, I disagree.

As long as you get up in the morning, you have a morning routine.

Even if your routine is rolling out of bed just in time to get out the door, that’s still your routine.

The only question is, does your routine fill your tank or contribute to draining your battery?

A morning routine that fills your tank is both intentional and consistent.

If you want to create an intentional and consistent morning routine, take some time to notice what really makes you feel good.

In my case, skipping coffee is not even a consideration!

My bathroom routine wakes me up and refreshes me physically and mentally.

Without breakfast, hangry becomes a very real thing.

What makes you feel good?  What can you do in the morning that will make your whole day better?

Those are the things to incorporate into your morning routine.

Keep it simple.

Anything that is over-complicated will soon be abandoned.

In my opinion, a great morning routine should take an hour or less.

Don’t set the bar so high that remaining consistent becomes unattainable.

It may take some time to settle into what works for you.

Don’t be afraid to try, and reject, things that do and don’t work for you.

Would you like to have a better day, every day?

Then I encourage you to be intentional, and consistent, with a great morning routine!
