KIND WORDS ARE LIKE HONEY

Would you like to be more intentional in showing kindness to others?

It’s as easy as using your words!

Picture this, I was waddling (and I do mean waddling) to the drug store, clearly expecting a baby and clearly carrying another baby in my arms.  Those babies would end up being seventeen months apart.

An older lady stopped me.  My first thought was “uh oh, what?”

She looked at me, my baby and my belly.  She said, “Honey, I want to tell you something.  On your darkest day, remember, there is light at the end of the tunnel.  My babies were close in age.  They grew up.  And yours will too.  Enjoy them.  “

I can not tell you how many times I recalled that conversation and drew hope from it.

One baby crying.  Two babies crying.  Two babies and a mommy crying.  There was light at the end of the tunnel.

Socks on the ceiling fan, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Hours and hours and hours in the emergency room, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Although I will never know her name, I will always remember her.  Nothing big.  Nothing fancy.  Just, “there’s light at the end of the tunnel”.

And there was.

And it happened, just like she predicted.

Do you ever wish you could do more to help someone?

Words are more powerful than you can imagine.

There is a Bible verse that says, “Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy to the body” Proverbs 16:24 (NLT version)

“Thank-you.”

“How thoughtful.”

“You look really nice.”

“I appreciate you.”

“You’ve got this.”

“I believe in you.”

Words matter.

If you want to do something little for someone, that will have a big impact.  Try using kind words.

There’s an added benefit.  You’ll feel better too!

Who do you want to make feel better today?  Use your words!

  1. Next time you see someone wearing something you think is pretty DO NOT hesitate to tell them. You will see faces light up every time I learned this from my granddaughter Jessie, she has practiced this since she could talk 🙂
