WHERE TO GET FREE E-BOOKS

Books, books and more books!

Reading is my go to form of relaxing.  It has been since before I started school.  Rarely is there a day between finishing one book and starting another.

This can be a problem when you can’t put your hands on a good book.

A few years ago, Brian gave me a Kindle for Christmas.  It was a gift I had really wanted.  For almost a year it sat untouched, because….I love real books.

The day arrived when I had not thought ahead and bought or borrowed a book.  Nothing to read!  Not a good thing for me.  Deciding it was past time to put the Kindle to use, I logged onto my Amazon account and made my first e-book purchase.

Oh. My. Gosh.

My world was changed.  A book could come to me in an instant.  Never again would I have to be without a book.

That luxury came at a cost.  Over time, it became a pretty steep cost, five to fifteen dollars at a time.  Currently, I have hundreds of books on my Kindle and / or stored on my Amazon account.  The hundreds of books translate into hundreds (I can’t even bear to think probably thousands) of dollars out of my account, five to fifteen dollars at a time.

A thought kept niggling in the back of my brain.  Was there a less expensive way to have my e-book fix?  One day as I was getting ready to hit that little one click button I decided to take one minute and log onto the local public library site and see if the book was available in a format that would load onto my Kindle. (I already have a library card.) In about three minutes I saved $13.99.  I was elated!

Just as important, it was EASY!  Because I was anticipating such a huge learning curve, I had put off even looking into the possibility.

It is absurdly easy to get a digital book from the local library.  Sign in, check out the book, click Kindle as the preferred format, log onto my Amazon account and download the book.

Amazing!

Now when I want a book, first I go to the library and see if it is available.  If it is, I borrow it.  It takes me, literally, only three extra minutes.  In my book (pun intended!), three minutes of time spent to save up to twenty dollars is well worth it.

If you are a reader, I encourage you to look into your local public library.  There are so many free and low cost resources available.

And you might just find books, books and more (digital ) books!  All for free!!!
