Be Mindful What You Seek

Four-Leaf Clover laying on a wooden bridge

Do you tend to notice the positives or the negatives in life?

Be mindful of what you seek.

I’m convinced that much of the time, what you look for is exactly what shows up.

My Story

A while back, I saw a social media post that made me stop and think.

A friend had shared a photo of herself holding yet another four‑leaf clover she’d found.

Apparently, she has a knack for spotting these tiny symbols of luck, and she finds them often.

While that’s a fun talent to have, I can’t help but wonder where it began.

My guess is that she found one or two by chance, which made her start looking for more.

Over time, that intentional looking became a habit, and that habit turned into a talent.

She finds four‑leaf clovers because she’s trained herself to seek them out.

What she seeks is what shows up.

I tend to look for life lessons, and there’s a good one tucked inside of this story.

Be Mindful of What You Seek

Start by recognizing your default “seeking mode”.

Some people naturally scan for the positive, while others instinctively spot what’s wrong.

It can feel hard‑wired, and in some ways, it might be.

I grew up hearing things like “it could be worse” and “look for the silver lining” from a mom who was widowed at thirty‑seven.

My default leans toward seeking the good.

But I imagine the opposite could have been true.

If I’d grown up hearing “woe is us”, my outlook on life would look very different.

Pay attention to your default. It matters.

Seek the Good

Make it a habit to look for the good and let the bad take up less space — in your circumstances and in the people around you.

Seeking the good doesn’t erase the hard parts; it simply shifts your focus toward what strengthens you instead of what drains you.

And that shift makes all the difference.

Notice What Shows Up

Once you start intentionally noticing the good, you’ll be surprised by how much more of it you notice.

Not because there’s suddenly more good in your life, but because you’ve trained your eyes — and your heart — to look for it.

Look for the Four-Leaf Clovers

Life is a lot like a field with hidden four-leaf clovers.

The good exists, you simply have to train your eyes, and heart, to look for it.

And the more you practice your skill, the more naturally you begin to see.

Before long, you realize you have developed a talent for spotting the real life four-leaf clovers.

And that talent will make all the difference in your life.
